BEER AND RE-HYDRATION
A subject of interest to quite a few tricyclists. Is beer any good after a long hard ride, or are we just kidding ourselves – imbibing a diuretic and de-hydrating ourselves further?
Roy Prockter draws my attention to the following web page:
CHAIRMAN’s NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS:
Please note that TA East Chairman Martin Badham has changed his e-mail address. It is now
I understand the reason for the change was that the new service provider promised to be less expensive.
However, as it was told to me, his old computer baulked at the installation process.
Upshot is that Martin has a new Dell computer running Vista, and would probably be glad if you would buy him a pint at the next meet.
MARSHALLING THE 100
I’ve had a phone call from the organiser of the 100. That’s the combined EDCA, TA East and Fliss Beard trike national championship 100 on SUNDAY JUNE 22nd. As a member club of the EDCA the TA East has an obligation to provide a marshal at the A11/ B1111 junction near East Harling. On at least the last couple of occasions when this has cropped up I have been able to fulfil the requirement by marshalling close to the Event HQ before doing my newspaper reporter job at the finish, but this isn’t possible this year as bicyclists doing 3:45 rides will have gone home before the marshals at Harling have seen the last 6 hour riders through. Can anyone Help?
The SPRING 25 and THELNETHAM MEET.

give an idea of the conditions at the better end of the course in the Spring 25. It was worse near the turn at Thetford. There the road was snow covered and it was difficult to see the edge of the tarmac. At least there was very little traffic.
Geoff Morse and Richard Clarke, the marshals at the turn had a most difficult job, and deserve our particular thanks.

HOT, NO, Up-to-Date NEWS FROM THE CIRCUIT OF THE DALES today
Geoff Booker (Oxonian CC) was fastest trike in 3hrs 6 mins for the 50 mountain miles. East Chairman Martin Badham (CC Breckland) finished in 3-40:26. Started in bright sunshine, he tells me, but as they climbed from Sedberg towards Hawes the moors were covered with snow and after the finish in Ingleton the snow came down everywhere.
FAST MAN ON A TRIKE
I hear that Carl Saint, medallist in the National 50 bike Championship when it was held in the Waveney Valley a few years ago, has been trying out Peter Hopkins’ trike.
