TA EAST ADDITIONAL NEWS- MONDAY NOVEMBER 9TH 2009

To TA East Members & Friends From Fergus Muir.

The reason for sending out another TA East News so soon after Saturday’s edition, is that this item really needs to go out on a MONDAY

In that edition I was referring to Cycling Weekly. Many cyclists lament CW’s reduced coverage of local cycle racing.

So it’s worth mentioning that the BIKE RADAR website is quite good in filling that gap. They publish on a Monday a “UK Cyclo-Cross/Hill climb/Time Trial Round-Up with short reports and brief results.

If you copy the following into an address box:

www.bikeradar.com/news/article/uk-cyclo-cross-round-up-lansley-remains-unbeaten-23902

….today’s news comes up – which, at this time of the year is unsurprisingly about cyclo-cross. But they did publish an item on the Fliss Beard and Stan Spelling championships, together with many other time trials. After Monday the items soon become “old news” and hard to find, though they are still on the site if you search ingeniously enough.

The address of the BikeRadar homepage is www.bikeradar.com/ (I still need advice on how to turn that into a Link, but it works if copied into an addressbox) After that go to “News”.

Yes, there is lots of advertising – i imagine that’s what pays for the site.

A lot of the news – possibly all of it – comes from Snowdon Sports Editorial, so they are probably the place to send news newsdesk@snowdons.co.uk

ANOTHER ALTERATIVE TO CYCLING WEEKLY ?

If you would prefer a printed magazine, there appears to be one coming up over the horizon.

At the Colchester Rovers cyclo-cross yesterday (that is my report on BikeRadar) I found flyers for a new time trial magazine to be published next season.

The embryo website is at

One to watch.

REMINDER – OUR NEXT MEET IS AT LUNCHTIME AT BILDESTON “KING’S HEAD” this coming Sunday, 15th November.

If you cannot come on a trike, you won’t be alone, because they are digging up the railway between Norwich and Stowmarket, so I will have to be on my Brompton folder.

Best Wishes
