TA EAST E-NEWS 26TH JULY 2017

To TA East Members and Friends

From Fergus Muir

It is just two-and-half weeks to the

TA EAST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Saturday 12th August 2017

12.15pm at Tostock Gardner’s Arms, Church Road, Tostock IP30 9BA Grid Ref TL955636.

We need a quorum of seven, so do please make an effort to attend

TA EAST Secretary Mark Brooking is asking if there are any items for the agenda.

Any such should be sent to him at darkhorsetrike8@gmail.com

Prior to the AGM we will meet 10:15am for coffee at Maglia Rosso cafe/bikeshop, just south of Hawstead, near Bury St Edmunds IP29 5NR, Grid ref TL862582 – giving us a pleasant ride to Tostock

Lunches will be available after the AGM …………assuming we don’t go on unconscionably long

Please attend to contribute to the future of our Region

Decisions need to be made about 2017 time trials and other matters

In particular the TA EAST 12 Hour has once again failed to attract the minimum entry of four necessary for it to be held as a separate TA event….and the present organiser does not intend to continue for 2018.

So the East 12 will not be in the 2018 Handbook, unless someone comes forward to take it on.

Incidentally – if you wonder about the spelling of the Tostock pub’s name …the Suffolk CAMRA Website elucidates:

“The pub’s original name comes from Squire Gardener, who owned the village in the 14th century. It was changed about 2015 because the new owner was called Gardner”

MERSEY ROADS 24 HOUR

Congratulations to our member Jane Moore (Willesden CC) on covering a provisional distance (with the latest update) 310.2 miles in a Mersey Roads 24 hour that involved many miles in the rain .

With this ride Jane becomes the first lady to win the Tricycle Trophy, the oldest of all tricycle time trial awards, one that has been awarded every peace-time year since 1913.

East Secretary Mark Brooking was leading Jane’s helpers, whilst amongst the marshals were the East Captain and former East member Dave Stokes.

Best wishes to Peter Holland who was only entry in the East 12 on Sunday 30th July – he will now ride his trike in the CC Breckland “parent” event, and to Ian Mackenzie who rides the Eastern Counties CA (and national championship) 12 two weeks later.

Best Wishes to you All
