Record attempt abandoned

Sadly Mark and Jane have decided to call a halt to their RRA record attempt due to Mark suffering much pain in his knee. We send them our commiserations. They stopped a little south of Preston.

May I express thanks to all the officials, observers, spectators and well wishers that have supported Mark and Jane.

Attempting records is a brave and courageous thing to do. Well done for getting as far as you did. Lands End to Preston is a huge distance and not easy terrain.

Commiserations! What bad luck after battling with roadworks and traffic hold-ups.

Sorry to hear it, better luck next time.

Sorry to hear that, commiserations to both riders

  5. Commiserations both. It seems the dreaded “Road works” demon got in the way and caused extra stress. By trying to make up the deficit, rather than building a buffer you’ve over-drawn and drained the reserves.
    Better luck next time

  7. Sorry to hear, although I dare say you’ll be philosophical. You are both such stars I had just assumed you’d get the result. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and another go perhaps.

I hope Mark and Jane’s current disappointment will not be overlong as the endeavour in preparing for and eventually getting this significant challenge on the road is a massive achievement. Well done.
