TA EAST NEWS 1st June 2010
To TA East Members & Friends
We are meeting at PIN MILL this Friday evening , 4th June!!
As listed on page 36 of the Spring 2010 TA Gazette, we will have an evening meet at the Butt & Oyster, the pub by the Orwell estuary in the parish of Chelmondiston. Grid Ref TM 205380 postcode IP9 1JW
Pin Mill is the riverside hamlet of Chelmondiston, 6 mls SE of Ipswich off the B1456.
This is a wonderful place to spend a summer evening and if you haven’t come to one of these meets before I commend the idea of coming along.
I shall be there from around 7pm. Most members eat, but some just drink.
It looks to me s if there is a useful “£5 off Meals for Two” voucher valid on that date if you download and fill up a form – see www.debeninns.co.uk/buttandoyster/
Please let me know if this voucher is too good to be true – I have only had a very quick look at the flyer. I came back this afternoon from four days camping at the Bruce Kingsford Weekend – based at a village hall –and was about to run a much needed bath, when I realised I had better get something off to you all before computers are shut down for the evening.
A few quick notes on the Bruce Kingsford weekend :-
There were 20 trikes on the Sunday afternoon clubrun.
Carl Saint won the 50 in 2:5:57.
The fastest (and only) tandem trike was piloted by East chairman Martin Badham, teamed up with Adrian Hills to finish in 3:1:58.
Next day Adrian returned to Sussex in order to ride the Brighton Mitre Hub Gear (bicycle) 10 in 34:03, while our chairman rode the Anfield 100 (first run in 1889), finishing in 6:47:39. Martin then had an afternoon nap and before rounding off the day with a sociable meal with other East members in the famous Bruce Kingsford w/e pub, “The Dog in the Lane” Astley.
And so to Bath
Do come to Pin Mill !
