TA EAST NEWS 23 JULY 2010
To TA East Members & Friends From Fergus Muir
I have just had to change the date of this edition as it has slipped past midnight. I am off in the morning to the Mersey 24 hour – to marshal, not ride. I hasten to add.
But before I go I want to tell/remind you that the TA East have a lunchtime meet on FRIDAY 30TH JULY. Wanting to enjoy the Suffolk coast in the glory of summer I have fixed this at THE MAYBUSH, WALDRINGFIELD.
This Maybush is on the west bank of the Deben estuary about 3 miles, as the crow (or curlew) flies due south of Woodbridge. It is the setting that is the thing here – the Deben here is fully half a mile wide, The Maybush is right down by the waterside and on a sunny day it is an exhilarating scene. The pub is run by the same small pubgroup as the Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill, so it is relatively upmarket, and being the height of the season there are no discount vouchers this time, I’m afraid. Even on a Friday it will be busy at this time of year so I suggest we aim to arrive around noon.
Don’t be confused by the village name – this is quite different from the village where Geoff Morse lives – actually the spelling is not quite the same – there is an “R” in the one we are going to. The grid ref is Grid ref TM286445, the postcode IP12 4QL The most obvious ways to approach the village are via Martlesham or Martlesham Heath. I do need to get some sleep in, so had better end there.
