Apparently the thing to do is to go in the main place to place your order and then go and find us in a dedicated room – I’m not actually sure if it is a barn or a shed or what, but it may not be all that warm – so perhaps an extra layer might be wise.

The Met Office weather map gets pretty accurate at this short range and I’m pleased to say the rain is expected to have cleared the area by our 1045 meet.

And when we leave, around 11.15am, we should be blown to Maldon.

Lunch at the Queen’s Head, on the Hythe – we hope to be there 1215 onwards.

I couldn’t help thinking it was sign of the times when a message about a Suffolk Road Race popped up on Facebook showing four photos and the message:

“Hi All, a few piccies here from the Fast Test Road Race at the weekend…..” plus 996 – that is…accompanied by 996 further pics.   A FEW?

Some of those showed just one rider, with his cranks at different phases of one pedal rev
