TA EAST E-NEWS 6TH SEPTEMBER 2017
To TA East members & friends
From Ferg Muir
Time is always short – especially now I am “retired” but here are some bits and pieces:
If my calculations are correct, entries close on Tuesday 19th September for the TA EAST AUTUMN 25
On Sunday 1st October 2017
TA East 25 Course E1/25B based at Ugley, Essex. Entries £8.50 to Michael Keen. 33 South Green,
Mattishall, Dereham, NR20 3JY (NB Michael’s new address)
Accommodation, from Friday evening, Lea Valley CC Hut, Burton End (near the Ash pub), Essex, CM24 8UQ. Club run on Saturday.
MILDENHALL CYCLING FESTIVAL
There was real summer weather and the organisers kindly placed the TA kraal right next to the food and drink providers.
If you haven’t seen it before, I commend Martin Badhams account and photos at:
TA EAST AGM
I seem to have mislaid my notes – but the AGM went ahead OK – we had just one member more than the required quorum and the Region’s business is continuing along the usual lines
Undoubtedly memories of those who made it there are dominated by hearing …first that Peter Faulks had had an accident on the way to the meeting …and then learning that one of his first thoughts on coming to in hospital was, in case we were short of a quorum at the meeting, to set up a possible way of his voting at the AGM by proxy!
That is serious dedication for you
So – how is our member PETER FAULKS?
Recovering – but rather slowly, seems to be the summary. His bruises have not yet gone, his ribs are still very painful and recovery has not been helped by getting infections in his waterworks and chest (think of coughing with damaged ribs) not to mention his wife falling down stairs. However he remains his sensible, positive self
Congratulations to IAN PIKE on his
TRIKE 50 in 1:58:55 in the CC BRECKLAND event on Saturday 2nd September.
This time included stopping on his second “lap” to retrieve his aero-bottle which had bounced out on his first time round.
There is a photo of Ian leaving the start in the report of the event in the CTT RACE REPORTS at:
ON3WHEELS FORUM – ADDRESS CHANGE
The web address for the “on3wheels” forum has changed. The old address is still active but anything now posted there is not uploaded to the new forum.
New forum address is:-
Although independent of the Association, the forum is full of interesting stuff and many TA members subscribe to it ____________________________________________________________________________
Our friends in the TA MIDLAND REGION have this weekend (September 9th & 10th)
STAN SPELLING AND JENNY NOAD CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND.
The entries look pretty good.
Organiser Harold Heyworth has kindly made the start sheets available to us, and they are (I hope) attached to this edition.
ONE TOO FEW SECTION
Although these two items relate to bicycles – I hope they are of interest.
JASMIJN MULLER’s END2END RECORD ATTEMPT IS ON RIGHT NOW
Some of you will remember Jasmijn tentatively trying Jayne Moore’s trike after the North Norfolk Whs and TA East 100.
Jasmijn – on a bike – set out at 7am this morning on her attempt.
You can follow her progress at:
