It is sad to be reporting the death of engineer, artist, tricyclist and Audax rider Paul Denny

Paul appears on many TA East result sheets of the 1950s and  was a member of the Diss & District CC 100 mile Tricycle Competition Record Team in 1960 – aggregate time of 14:57:14.

Our sympathies are with his widow Jaqui and their family.

Paul and Jaqui had been married. I believe, for over 65 years.  They met in 1952 – it was a real cyclists’ encounter……..

Jacqui, who was a regular churchgoer at the time, attended early service at Ufford, near Woodbridge and then rode to Lowestoft to meet her Ipswich BC clubmates for Lunch.

The club  did not make the rendezvous, so Jacqui turned round and headed south again, stopping for tea at the NCU-appointed cafe at Carlton-cum-Kelsale, then on the A12 near Saxmundham.

This proved to be crowded with the Diss & District CC clubrun. There was no vacant table, so she had to share one – and got talking to the tricyclist sitting there ….one Paul Denny.

His funeral will take place on Thursday 13th February 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at The Woodland Burial Park, Colney, Norwich NR4 7TY.

ROGER AKERS, in Hertford,   is selling his stable of tricycles.

East Secretary Martin Badham reports regarding PETE MARTIN that:

“Our Northern Captain has an operation for a hip replacement coming up so will not be able to lead runs for a few months. I (Martin) have volunteered to lead the first one in March, we would welcome volunteers for the remainder until Pete is mobile again”  Contact the Sec on 01603  897738

Pete hopes to be back in the saddle for June.
