SIAN CHARLTON’S FUNERAL
Members will be saddened to hear that our member Siân Charlton of Oulton Broad has died.
Sian passed away on the 10th October at the nursing home where she had been for some months.
The funeral is at Waveney Memorial Park, near Beccles at 13:00 on Friday 23rd October. Members will need to be mindful of Covid restrictions, but Sian’s daughter tells me that about 15 family members are expected, so they are not near the Covid maximum of 30 and that TA members will be welcome to attend.
Alternatives include remaining outside by the floral tributes or tuning in to a webcam of the service from afar, either live or at a later time.
Details of how to access this are included as a postscript to this newsletter.
Siân put a huge amount of effort into the cycling world. A former TA South East Regional Secretary, Siân had been secretary of the FCOT, nowadays The Fellowship of Cycling – quite recently organising autumn weekends for them at Corton while the Clarion Cycling Club was another abiding interest.
We send our condolences to Sian’s partner Pam and their family

IAN MACKENZIE
The latest news on Ian Mackenzie is that Viv his wife has been able, by special permission, to visit him in Thurrock Community Hospital and found Ian definitely improved.
Viv describes the trouble as Depression and feels that the covid situation has been the trigger to derail Ian – to use a word reflecting Ian’s former career as a railway policeman
Our thoughts are with Viv at this difficult time.

Covid has a lot to answer for, but the cancellation of the
TA EAST AUTUMN 25 wasn’t covid-related…it was due to the good old English weather.
All was going ahead for a covid-safe event, until a pre-dawn inspection of the E1 course revealed the road was flooded.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Michael Keen & Frida Wezel and their Lea Valley CC team for the work they put into this event, and commiserate with them on the disappointing outcome.
I do hope that my publishing a photo of a rain-soaked 1920s Comet 25 in the previous edition of TA EAST E-NEWS didn’t precipitate a loud echoing laugh from the weather-gods.

For a positive take on the current trike scene look no further than the trike participation in the
HOLME VALLEY WHEELERS HILL CLIMB ON THE ICONIC HOLME MOSS
One point eight-five miles of climbing – my goodness – hard for a Norfolk tricyclist to comprehend..
I hope we hear more of the inside story of this contest for the Tricycle Incline Trophy
Congratulations to the Lincoln Wheelers on their domination of the result
