TA EAST E-NEWS MARCH 22ND 2021

To TA East members & friends

From Ferg Muir

If you no longer wish to receive TA East E-News, please let me know and I will remove your address from the distribution list

I can only hope that readers have managed to get through this most recent and most stringent lockdown sound in body and mind. It has not been easy through these darkest and shortest of days

However, following government guidelines, racing under Cycling Time Trials rules can commence from the 29th March and our member MICK MADGETT confirms that his TA EAST BRESSINGHAM 25 on SUNDAY 11TH APRIL will go ahead – “though probably without tea or coffee at the HQ”

Mick reports that he is probably OK for the main marshalling points, but “ there may be a ‘pothole’ duty just before Garboldisham”.

The 25 mile out & back course is coded B25/17 on the Diss-Thetford road. Start time 0900

Enter via  Cycling Time Trials: Find Events          Closing date Tues 30th March

Remember that there will be bike events also taking place- for classic bikes and medium gears.

And, of course, CTT Advice and Government Guidelines – including the two metre social distance and maximum outdoor gathering of six persons will have to be observed.

Here are Pete Holland (left) and Gary Guntrip taking part in the 2019 event

Thanks to Chris Rayne of Audax Kernow* making good use of his time during lockdown, there is now available an updated version of his long and interesting account a tandem trike ride from John O’Groats to Lands End.

He did the ride in 1980 with the late Barry Parslow and it can be found on the Audax Kernow website  or by using this link

Reports of Barry’s death are greatly exaggerated. His sight gave up the ghost quite a few years ago and his triking days are behind him but he is still living independently in NW London and still a source of great stories.
