TA EAST E-NEWS 9TH NOVEMBER 2015
To TA East members and friends
From Ferg Muir
This SATURDAY 14TH NOVEMBER – we have what often proves to be our best-attended ordinary TA EAST MEET –
WRITTLE & THE VIPER
Coffee at the Lordship Tearooms at Writtle – where I suggest we will be found approx 10.30 – 11.00 am,
The tearooms are just off Lordship Road, Writtle – postcode is CM1 4RS and the grid ref is TL678069 . I’m told that there is a good free car park in Writtle Village centre.
Lordship Road runs roughly north from Preston’s Garage until it meets the A1060 at a mini roundabout.
From Writtle we will have a clubrun through the woods- which should be in their finest autumn colours – to that cyclist-friendly pub-in-the-forest…
THE VIPER, Mill Green, near Ingatestone.
THE VIPER is about 6 miles south west of Chelmsford and 2 miles NNW of Ingatestone . The postcode is CM4 0PT and the Grid Ref TL640018.
For anyone coming by train from the north, note that there is
LATE-NOTICE RAILWAY ENGINEERING WORK and consequently rail replacement buses between Colchester and Chelmsford.
So your Captain will be on his folding bike unless anyone can offer him and his trike a lift from Colchester, Ipswich or Norwich.

Please note the TA Gazette closes for press on Tues 17th November.
So I will need basic details of our TT programme for the 2015 season – which I currently lack
And will be sending in details of our TA EAST Meets for the period January to April inclusive.
If you are willing to lead a run/meet do please let me know.
In particular I am not at the moment planning a January meet myself – but I am quite prepared to include one if anyone wants to take responsibility.
THE TA EAST LUNCH will be on SUNDAY 7TH FEBRUARY -2016 at BRADFIELD COMBUST organiser Martin Badham.

NEEDED – ARTICLES FOR TA EAST E-NEWS
It would be good to have a stock of trike-related items that could liven-up TA EAST E-NEWS.
This edition would have given longer notice of our VIPER meet, if I had not been wracking by brains for anything beyond the routine stuff that did not need time myself.

R O HARRISON TRIKES ?
The latest edition of Peter Underwood’s CAMBRIDGE LIGHTWEIGHT NEWS – has a piece from Bill Horner asking whether his R O Harrison trike is a one-off.
Does anyone know if this builder was a regular builder of trikes?
There are photos of Bill’s trike – with what looks at first sight like a Hawkins axle – in the Nov-Dec edition: http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/news/LIGHTWEIGHT_NEWS_60.pdf

TA NATIONAL REUNION. I hear there was a larger-than-usual East contingent at this weekend, with the Lea Valley CC members making a special effort to contribute to the cross-toasting. Note the earlier date for 2016: 22/23 October 2016
At the NATIONAL AGM East member SID CHARLTON from Oundle took on the job of CORRELATOR OF MEMORIALS.
Taking over as Mileage Chart Organiser for 2016 is LES YOUNG, winner of our Bressingham 25 last March.
But note that JOHN LEWIS, who has done both these jobs for many years, will still accept any remaining 2014-2015 Charts – his address:
86 Grosvenor Road Ilford IG1 1LA.
Remember our RON FISHER TROPHY goes to the East member with the chart with the highest mileage.
John deserves our heartfelt thanks for taking care of both these jobs for as long as I can remember.

Hope to enjoy your company in Essex this Saturday
