Day 13
Hi All
O.K. so who opened the freezer door and turned a fan on in the N.E? Had a shorter day with the cold wind and more hills. Went from Mellor, through Whalley where I believe they suffered some flooding last winter. Then over the fells to Slaidburn and had a break there. Lovely place in the middle of nowhere. Then on up, up, up to Great Harlow, and a long drop down into High Bentham. Quite at home now around this part of the world, as it is on the Circuit of the Dales TT course. Had lunch at Bentham. Went on to the junction with the A65 at Ireby and actually had a tail wind for about 3 miles with a heady 28 MPH on the clock. Shame it didn’t last. Turned off at Gowan Bridge, then joined the A683 towards Sedbergh. Stopped short of Sedbergh at a farm campsite. Had some fine views of Ingleborough hill and Whernside which I have climbed and ridden over many times in the Three Peaks Cyclocross races.
Hope to get up somewhere between Brampton and Langholm ( that may be a bit ambitious), tomorrow.
