Day 15 – Welcome to Scotland

Spent last night camped at a fishing lake near Longtown just of the A7.
Crossed the border into Scotland 4 miles along the road. Not so cold today and no frost.? took the A7 for 10 miles. No traffic. Then it was back to the lanes again on the B709. Some parts were really smooth, better than than A roads. Other bits were rather rough. Followed the B709 to Peebles, then the A703 to just before Penicuik, then B7026 to turn off for Roslin. Too late to look round Rosslyn Chapel, but the campsite is just next to it.
Our tame racing tricyclist was along with me most of the day. Black Stig only rides when the sun comes out. So I thought nothing of him not having a water proof jacket with him. I checked behind and mine had gone missing too! Rather annoying, as it was quite expensive and I’ll have to.get a new one in Edinburgh in the morning. Liz has found the address of Evans cycles, so I hope not to waste too much time in town.
76 miles today and another 4963 ft climbed. The hills were much gentler but a lot longer. Long down hills were good but a bit cold. Wind not troublesome today
I’ll cross the Forth Road Bridge in the morning. Hope to manage another 70 miles.
