Went into Edinburgh this morning via a really good cycle track. When that ran out the first bit of road was new, but the further into the city I went the worse the road surface got.
Bought a replacement top from Evans Cycles, then followed a tortuous route to the Forth Road Bridge. Edinburgh is supposed to be a beautiful city, but I was glad to see the back of it. The condition of the roads in and around the city are a disgrace. Worn out surfaces and pot holes you could loose your trike in.
It was some 30 miles before I was back into the lanes which are in far better condition. So a bad morning, even the sun stayed away. After lunch about 1:30, I had a better time. Some long steady climbs and one superb descent. A good couple of miles with loads of twists and turns. Speeds of up to 35 mph and lots of aerobics on the trike. That really cheared me up, and even Black Stig joined in the fun.
Arrived at a campsite quite late due to stopping of in Edinburgh. Totals for today. 91 miles and climbed 5643 ft.
Looking like I should reach JOG on Saturday.
