Gwyneth Holland

IMG_1769aMembers who knew her will be sad to hear that Gwyneth Holland has lost her long battle with cancer and passed away on 25th November. Although no longer a member, many of us will remember her lively social gatherings, both in Kent and Lincolnshire. She edited the Tricycle Gazette before Roger Alma and was instrumental in setting up the original TA website.

She will be affectionately remembered at her funeral on 14th December, 1:10 pm at Lincoln Crematorium, Washingbourough Road, Lincoln LN4 1EF and afterwards at Dunston Village Hall, Chapel Lane, Dunston, Lincolnshire LN4 2ET.

  1. Thanks very much Mike Moody and Martin Badham.
Gwyneth was a wonderful wife to me and supported me in everything I did. She became the editor of the Gazette for Christmas 1991 and continued though until around 2005 when it was changed to modern print processes which enabled considerable cost cutting in producing the Gazette. Roger took over then and has continued to produce a great Gazette. She was the SE Region sec for many years. We raced together on both Tandem and Tandem Trike. A few years ago she set an age standard record together with Greta for 10 miles on Tandem Trike. They were planning to have another go but it was not to be.
Gwyneth supported me in every long distance event that I have ridden since we met and I can tell you that is a lot of events. This last year she came out with me to every event I rode.
She passed away peacefully in Lincoln Hospital. We welcome members to the service at the Crematorium There will be a short ride behind the hearse to the Crem from the layby East of the crem just after the double bend on Washingborough Road going west from Cannock hill traffic lights meeting at 12:55 Led by Andy Newham and with some Lincoln Wheelers. After the service refreshments will be served at Dunston village hall LN4 2ET

Thanks Andrew and Caroline. And to the vast number of people who sent us cards and letters of condolence and for all the support that members have given me and the family.

My wife Julia and I recently learned of Gwyneth’s passing and it was a complete shock. We have retired now and moved back to Wales but not so long ago we had regular visits by Gwyneth and Peter at our small bike repair/shop in Metheringham. Gwyneth was a person with great enthusiasm for everything both she and Peter did. She will be truly missed and our thoughts go out to Peter.

We often talked of the days when we used to go and chat in the shop something that we both enjoyed.I am sorry that we lost contact the last few months were very hard but she wanted me to keep on racing and she came out with me to all the events that I rode.
How great it is to make contact with you and Julia again. It is interesting to hear that you are planning to build up a trike to overcome your balance problems I am sure that the TA will be pleased to hear how it developes.
