REUNION WEEKEND – CELEBRATING 90 YEARS OF THE TRICYCLE ASSOCIATION
The centrepiece of this splendid weekend was the Reunion Dinner at the Link Hotel in Loughborough attended by 99 members and friends of the Association.
Held in a room dominated by an astonishing display of TA photos and memorabilia, the assembled company were entertained by an array of speakers led by time-trial champion and Cycling Weekly columnist Dr Michael Hutchinson and ending with the Toast to “The Tricycle Association ” proposed by former TA Secretary and President and current 24 hour competition record-holder Eric Tremaine, over from Canada for the occasion.
Earlier some 20 members had enjoyed a sociable afternoon snack at St Joseph’s Tearoom, Mount St Bernard, with three members defying continuous rain to ride their tricycles there.
Next day Chairman Sid Charlton set a brisk pace at the Annual General Meeting, passing the finish timekeeper at 10.11 am, allowing plenty of time for more socializing and consumption of coffee and birthday cake.
