ANY OTHER COMMENTS: On a ride of this duration we will need several sets of observers who will cover the ride in shifts. Previous attempts similar to this have been completed in under 3 days. This class of ride has an upper limit of 5 days which makes it even more of a challenge!
It will therefore be essential to ensure that none of the helpers/observers/timekeepers are overstretched during the course of the ride.
The start and finish timekeepers have already stepped forward.
I intend to fill the intermediate posts with as many observers as is practical from a logistical point of view.
Ideally if they could be self propelled and to a certain degree self sufficient it would ease the predicted duties of the rider support crew.
Good luck to Jane, we are all rooting for you.
All best wishes for a trouble free ride..
How is it going, well I hope
Latest news is that she passed through Arclid at 9:10.
Jim Lawley and self will be out in Preston and Lancaster,to assist Jane in passing safely & swiftly through these two busy cities.More later.
Saw Jane top Shap summit at about 1830. Having her first sleep at Penrith after 38 hours. Well done Jane, hang in there.
