I am pleased to inform all of our members and friends that the York Rally is back for 2015. I quote in full from an email received from the Publicity Officer, Peter Eland. Full information is given on their website www.yorkrally.org

“Dear fellow cyclists and clubs,

I hope many of you and your members will have fond memories of the
York Rally. It ran on York’s Knavesmire from 1945 right through to
2013 before its unfortunate demise.

But a group of volunteers who are not prepared to let almost 70 years
of cycling tradition slip away has come together to revive the rally
in the spirit of the original “Grand All-Yorkshire Cyclists Rally”.
It may be bare bones at first but it will be back on 20-21st June

We would love to make this a “The Grand All-Welcome Cyclists Rally”
for the 21st century so all cycle clubs, associations, online forums,
social media groups anywhere in the UK and beyond are formally and
most warmly invited to attend and participate!

We have almost unlimited space at our disposal on the Knavesmire and
so if you can make use of it, we would be delighted. Or just come
together with your members, socialise, go on rides and enjoy the
fellowship of cycling at the Rally.

It would be wonderful if you could let your members know of the
revived Rally via all and any means, and please do spread the word
far and wide.

The new volunteer committee is starting with a blank canvas and a
near-zero bank account, so there’s a fund-raising Sportive coming up:

and supporters are also invited to contribute to the revival by
becoming a ‘Friend of York Rally’:

To contact the organising committee (which would of course welcome
volunteers – who don’t have to be local) please email
info@yorkrally.org. The event secretary is Paul Reid on 016973 43089
and please contact me for further images or press enquiries.

With best regards,

Peter Eland”
