Commiserations to our member….
IAN MACKENZIE
The following is mostly lifted from Mary Horsnell’s report to the VTTA mag:
Ian was late for his 72nd birthday party. Thinking to celebrate he went out for a ride on his bike…….Unfortunately the Police Accident Reduction Unit was operating in the area and one of their vehicles collided with Ian’s bike on a roundabout, causing it to be written off.
As he lay in the road he saw a slogan on the police vehicle –
“What did the driver say? – Sorry, I didn’t see you”.
You couldn’t make it up!
A visit to hospital revealed only superficial cuts and bruises, so hopefully he is by now back in action…….As he certainly is – see below:
Congratulations to our member….
PETER HOLLAND
Who has won the Fliss Beard Trophy – TA 100 Mile Championship with his 6:21:03 ride in the TA South East 100 on Romney Marsh.
Peter outlasted potentially overwhelmingly strong opposition from Lez Young and Gavin Hinxman, both of whom did not finish.
Proving that he is indeed largely recovered, Ian Mackenzie came second in 6:27:36, a ride which won him the handicap medal.
